On the Move
Leaving N.A.B.I. was sad, only half of me wanted to go, hopefully they'll get a new volunteer soon to do the things i'd been doing! The Administrators, Jerry and Alice (who is Dine'/Navajo), gave me a beautiful green-turquoise necklace as a remembrance, and let me know i'd be welcome back anytime. (To anyone from NABI or the Nation reading this: be assured i'll always try to "walk in Beauty". I left a day later than planned, in order to finish the book that i found there: Legacy of the Drow by R.A. Salvatore. (With that finished, i'm now reading Man Booker Prize winning: Life of Pi by Yann Martel) I love it!
So, after a few days couch surfing at Michael Rendon's house in Durango, where Nathan Beck, another college school mate lives, i'm back in that great ol' city close to the heavens: Denver.
The stay in Durango was nice, it was great to see Baha'i friends like Bob and Freddy and Fort Lewis College school mates: Michael, Nathan and Nathan again! The second Nathan being Nathan Ballenger, who, along with his wife, guest-room-surfed at my much loved parents' house back when they still lived in New Delhi in the early 00's. According to his doctor, my mom actually saved his life, when he flew home from India to the U.S.A. via Moscow stricken with Typhoid Fever, thanks to her having given him some electrolyte packets for the trip (give the body nutrition and stuff during heavy diarrhea). He said he'd be eternally grateful to her!
I also got to see Nathan's Ecological, Earth friendly, Energy Saving house that he built himself! It's beautiful and has a great layout. I know my cousin Matthias, (who's a carpenter) especially, would love it. That night had a nice chat with him and his wife, Rachel. The night before Nathan, Michael and Mike's girlfriend, Mina, and i had dinner together at Michael and Mina's house-- that was great too!
Had a look at a great book of Michael's from the guerrilla artist: Banksy
http://www.banksy.co.uk/menu.html
Fun art! Well done "graffiti", if only all graffiti artists were as talented and thought provoking!
Also, praise Baha'u'llah! who obviously is blessing and aiding me in my efforts to move back to China! Freddy from La Plata County (Durango) bought my car, --he needed a new one--he told me during the Four Corner's Baha'i Summer School-- right when i needed to sell one-- and not only that, but he drove up to Denver with me in it, saving me some money (minus what i put in for a soon to be needed oil-change and tire rotation). The biggest task i had before leaving for China is therefore complete, but i still need to put some of my Mum's art into frames, give them to friends here, and send a few boxes (of mostly books, some CDs, etc) to Xi'an International Uni (XAIU) where i'll be teaching (and living). I've been looking at lots of photos of XAIU and Xi'an on related Facebook groups, and feel i know a lot more about my destination than the last time i moved to China!
Transportation-wise i'll now be relying on a borrowed bicycle and rides from friends for my last 2 weeks in Denver... possibly on the RTD too, of course, (Denver's Public transportation) but it's not very good (i.e. frequent) by European (German, at least, not sure about all corners of the E.U.!) standards
I expanded my Facebook profile with more fun applications and joined more Facebook groups-- it's a fun way to stay more in touch with high school, college classmates and friends!
Last night went to a very fun devotional at a friend, Maryam, (local Baha'i youth)'s devotional gathering, with singing, games, cakes, fruit, and refreshments spelling success!
Tonight i'll be going to a "fireside" (where seekers can learn more about the Baha'i Faith) at the home of old friends and helpers: Peg and Wayne O'Conner-Scheck.
