Hot DAM party (Denver Art Museum)
Last Friday was interesting. I picked up the Hot DAM (Denver Art Museum) Opening Party ticket, but before i went in i went for a walk to find a mail box and just as i got to a certain point in the civic park, the leaders of AIM (American Indian Movement) --and allied orgs-- got to the same point and walked past leading the Anti-Colombus Day demonstration. Colon (Colombus) was, after all, a slave trader, rapist and murderer-- why celebrate him? So i just join in, as a gap in the line came by. At the head of the line the Native Americans were chanting in a Native language, then while we waited to cross Broadway, they stopped and everyone chanted "hey, hey, ho, ho, Colombus day has got to go". And then i listened to the speeches, prayers songs and dances for a couple hours before going to the museum, where i met Lev, his brother, their girlfriends, his parents, and his sister, who's recently made a friend who's a Baha'i!
Lev said we could get together again on Sat, but he never returned my phone calls. Oh well, guess he was busy with his family. (which i totally understand).
